Esther Poon worked as a fitness instructor and personal trainer for 14 years, before building on some 30 years experience in knitting and crochet to become Hong Kong's first "Yarn Bomber". Yarn bombing involves wrapping trees, balustrades, handrails, fire hydrants, phone booths or other city fixtures and fittings in a bright and joyfully knitted or crocheted jacket to enliven otherwise hard and drab urban streets. Her works may now often be found all over Hong Kong, bringing colour and joy to the vibrant city and citizens of Hong Kong.
