Heath HK: The First Sinner by JUM

JUM is very excited to invite you to her first solo exhibition. "The First Sinner" is an exhibition celebrating the complexities and beauty of womanhood, confronting and challenging traditional narratives of female inferiority in society. Through the pieces, JUM portrays female figures in harmonious interaction with nature, reimagining the familiar concept of Eden. This reinterpretation asserts that The First Sinner's act of eating the apple was not a sign of weakness or seduction by the serpent in Eve's story, but rather a bold assertion of her power and freedom. By celebrating these themes, the exhibition serves as a homage to women and womanhood, reclaiming the narrative and highlighting the strength, resilience and beauty inherent in the female experience.

Touch Gallery: Fish Wishes

In this vibrant city, culture and art flow like a gentle stream, enriching our lives. After a year of meticulous

preparation, we are thrilled to present William's second solo exhibition at Touch Gallery, titled "Fish Wishes." This

exhibition not only continues his artistic journey but also pays heartfelt homage to the rich culture of Hong Kong.

William's fascination with fish stems from their unique symbolism and vitality. As early as the Mid-Autumn

Festival in 2011, he designed a colorful lantern installation "Lantern Wonderland" in Victoria Park. This piece

celebrated the vibrancy of fish and expressed his admiration for life itself.

While fish are often depicted as culinary delights in Western art, in Chinese culture, they embody a deeper spirituality, symbolizing prosperity and hope. In this exhibition, William debuts his clay sculpture works, marking a new exploration in his artistic expression.

The flexibility and malleability of clay allow him to vividly capture the essence of life in his creations. Each piece

reflects his profound contemplation on existence and serves as a blessing for all. Let us experience together the beauty that springs from culture and explore the limitless possibilities that art brings

to our lives.

WKM Gallery: Peaceable Kingdom

WKM Gallery is proud to present Peaceable Kingdom, the first-ever solo exhibition in Hong Kong by Japanese artist Jun Takahashi. Perhaps most well-known as the founder of legendary clothing brand UNDERCOVER, Takahashi has been creating paintings alongside his fashion work for many decades, though he only began publicly showcasing his artworks in 2023. The current exhibition offers a deeper glimpse into the dark, surreal universe that has served as the source of Takahashi’s creative output over the past thirty years. Featuring all-new works, including the first public showing of 3 canvases that were used as central motifs in his S/S 2025 Men’s Collection, Peaceable Kingdom is a portrayal of the conflict between the chaos of today’s world and the artist’s own deep desire for peace. This exhibition marks his largest to date, and his first major show outside of Japan.

The works in Peaceable Kingdom are a continuation of Takahashi’s ongoing exploration of the tension between disorder and harmony. Inspired by the song of the same name by Patti Smith, the exhibition is composed of distorted portraits and abstract figures in dream-like landscapes, many dotted with apples and clouds, both recurring motifs in the show. While the apples – bleeding into puddles of red, floating into space, or disappearing into invisibility – seem to represent the complicated, interconnected nature of innocence and decay, the clouds offer an overtone of hope that permeates the entire exhibition.

The Stroll Gallery: Between Nearness and Distance

Korean multidisciplinary artist Kajin Kim's solo exhibition, <Sensory Utopia: Between Nearness and Distance(感官烏托邦: 遠近之間)>, will be held from November 2 to December 7 at The Stroll Gallery by Stella A&C. Throughout her career, Kajin Kim has explored the complexities and dualities of the human desire for connection in contemporary life, mediated and decontextualized by the internet and media technologies.

The artist notes that while technological advancements have facilitated more convenient and unconstrained interpersonal connections, they have also led to extreme separation and disconnection in our direct, physical interactions. For Kim, this human deficiency translates into a longing for “shared boundaries” – a deep yearning for “contact”. The skin membrane then emerges as a boundary dividing the interior and exterior of the body, as well as a device representing the scope of the self.

To express this idea of contact, Kajin Kim transforms it into visual and spatial forms. She casts organic-looking images surrounded by membranes in translucent silicone or transfers them onto resin surfaces, installs them on thermoformed transparent acrylic. The light designed to penetrate these transparent surfaces creates and connects the dual spaces of the interior and exterior, penetrating and connecting to form a new sense of space.

Blue Lotus: Voices of the Walls

“Voices of the Walls" is an exhibition that explores the history and visua; culture of the infamous Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong through photographs by Ian Lambot, Greg Girard, Bianca Tse and Keeping Lee. Starting on 17 October, the exhibition will run until 30 November 2024 and offers an opportunity to delve into the rich visual history of his once-controversial urban enclave.

Photographs serve as a vital medium for archiving collective memory and preserving heritage, particularly for places that will eventually disappear, like the walled city. While few ventured there, even fewer thought to document it. However, Ian Lambot and Greg Girard did just that in the years leading up to its demolition, culminating in the iconic book City of Darkness, published by Watermark, which has sold over 20,000 copies to date. This collection not only preserves the heritage of the notorious walled city through photographs and stories but also served as a source of inspiration for future generations of artists, still influencing everything from video games and AI-generated imagery, like that of Bianca Tse showcased in this exhibition, to films such as the latest blockbuster,  ‘Twilight of the Warriors: Walled in.’
