Yrellag: See and be Seen
After decades, Sin Sin Fine Art, the pioneering Hong Kong gallery that first showcased Indonesian artists, is once more unveiling emerging talents from the region. A chance encounter in Bali with Dani Huda and Talitha Maranila resonated deeply with Sin Sin Man, prompting her to reach out to artists from a land so dear to her.
What connects all three artists in this group show is the thirst to search deeper through nature into creative expression. Excited to share how today’s young artists are embracing nature and spirituality in their lives and work, Sin Sin “hopes it will inspire people who feel under pressure or lost; to guide them to find more light, more expanse, more breath.” A life spent in celebration of beauty and harmony, craftsmanship and art, this exhibition is philosophy in practice.
Meeting these two young artists served as an immense boost of inspiration for Sin Sin, connecting in their collective energy to work and live. ‘Extend’ is curated by Sin Sin, however she will also be showing a work in the exhibition that literally reflects back and engages in conversation with the work of Dani & Talitha. We invite you to join this creative explosion, letting the artworks be a stepping stone to introspection and spirituality.

Galerie Koo: Urban Narratives
Galerie Koo is pleased to announce a joint photography exhibition “Urban Narratives” by Matthieu Venot and Jose Conceptes.
"Urban Narratives", a captivating joint exhibition featuring the architectural works of renowned French photographer Matthieu Venot and the innovative Spanish photographer José Conceptes. The exhibition showcases two distinct yet complementary visions of urban environments, each artist offering a unique narrative through their lens.Matthieu Venot, celebrated for his minimalist and vibrant architectural abstractions, captures the essence of geometry, colour, and light in cityscapes. His works reduce urban structures to clean lines and blocks of colour, transforming familiar city elements into surreal compositions. His photographs evoke an emotional resonance, highlighting the beauty in simplicity and everyday architecture.
In contrast, José Conceptes approaches urban spaces with a more introspective and monochromatic vision. His series explores the relationship between form, light, and shadow, highlighting the often-overlooked nuances of urban textures and structures. Conceptes' works, especially his black-and-white photography, distil urban settings into stark, almost meditative narratives that blur the line between realism and abstraction. His work emphasises how light and shadow interact to create dynamic forms from static architecture.

Touch Gallery: 6th Anniversary Exhibition: Harmony in Teawares
Time flies, and we celebrate the sixth anniversary of TOUCH. Six years ago, we started with tea sets and successfully held 11 tea set-related exhibitions and dozens of tea art workshops. We have since expanded to other ceramics and contemporary art aspects, allowing the public to feel the charm of contemporary ceramics. Various experiences provided an in-depth understanding of the history, culture and aesthetics of ceramics. During this journey, we are also honoured to have formed a sincere friendship and accumulated growth, just like the greenness, richness, and mellow sweetness given by tea over time.
Good tea sets make good tea, while perfect tea sets connect people and foster relationships. On this unique commemorative occasion of our sixth anniversary, we invited nine Japanese and Taiwanese masters to present the most anticipated tea sets of the year, leading us to embrace harmony and celebrate the connections made in the past 6 years. We look forward to more wonderful encounters ahead. The nine ceramic and metalworking artists participating in the exhibition include: Takaya Fukuoka, who infuses Japanese architectural aesthetics into tea sets; Kazuhiro Katase, who delivers a lively and simple emotion in pots; Kazunori Ohnaka, who advocates the beauty of
impermanence; Sayaka Shingu who creates with reverence for nature; Wu Wei-Cheng, known as the clay architect; Chang Xi-Yuen, who exudes the warmth of wood kilns and clay; Liu Jung-Hui, who combines zen landscapes and graceful demeanour; Lin Jhih-Bing, who records natural memories; Zhang Sheng-Xiong, who displays the texture of all things with hand forging. During the exhibition, we will also hold tea gatherings and self-service tea-making experiences, allowing everyone to enjoy delightful moments with master tea sets. We sincerely invite everyone to come and collect the unique tea sets. Let bondings weave over tea.

13A New Street: Your Sunshine is Crying
The 13A New Street Art Gallery is proud to present “Your Sunshine is Crying”, the first solo exhibition of works by the artist CHOWCIAOCHOW, who radiates artistic brilliance and shines on the international stage. The exhibition will feature over 30 of his artworks.
CHOWCIAOCHOW’s work has garnered the attention of top European and American singer Sam Smith, the “Prince of Love Songs.” His artwork has been prominently featured as Smith’s profile picture on social media, exposing CHOWCIAOCHOW’s artistic achievements to millions of international fans overnight. Riding this wave of personal international recognition, CHOWCIAOCHOW was invited by the widely acclaimed minimalist Swedish fashion brand COS to showcase his personal creations at their flagship store in Central. Collaborations with local artists are rare for COS, making this an unprecedented partnership. His stunning works have attracted many visitors eager to take photos and admire the art, resulting in a significant surge in CHOWCIAOCHOW’s personal visibility. This demonstrates that he is undoubtedly a Hong Kong artist who radiates artistic brilliance and shines on the international stage. Over the past few years, his work has gained immense popularity worldwide, establishing him as a sought-after and exceptional figure in the Hong Kong art scene.
In this exhibition, CHOWCIAOCHOW aims to remind the audience of a crucial message: that we should always pay attention to the emotions that those around us may be hiding. As an emotionally rich artist, each of his paintings conveys unique personal feelings, expressing his thoughts and the surrounding atmosphere, thereby resonating deeply with the audience. The focal point of the exhibition is the vibrant sun that we see everyday, which, despite its cheerful appearance, is depicted as crying. This stark contrast arises from the global pandemic in recent years. Despite having an optimistic and cheerful personality, CHOWCIAOCHOW has remained largely unaffected emotionally, even in the face of a century-defining public health crisis that has cast a shadow over the city. However, not everyone possesses such a sunny disposition. Through his series “Your Sunshine is Crying,” CHOWCIAOCHOW hopes to remind us to care for the emotions of those around us. Even a person who seems to radiate joy like the sun may be quietly suffering inside.

Gagosian: Social Abstraction
Gagosian is pleased to announce Social Abstraction, the second installment of a two-part exhibition curated by Antwaun Sargent. Following the presentation in Beverly Hills this summer, this iteration will be on view at the gallery in Hong Kong from September 10 to November 2, 2024. Social Abstraction in Hong Kong features new works by Kevin Beasley, Allana Clarke, Cy Gavin, Alteronce Gumby, Lauren Halsey, Kahlil Robert Irving, Devin B. Johnson, Rick Lowe, Eric N. Mack, Cameron Welch, and Amanda Williams—many of whom have never before exhibited in Asia.
Social Abstraction centers on experimental approaches taken by an intergenerational group of Black artists who use abstraction to address culture, perception, and our place in the universe. Working in a wide range of mediums—from oil and acrylic paint to ceramics, mosaic, resin, hair glue, wigs, and textiles—they move beyond exclusively formal considerations to engage with themes of identity, sociability, and lived experience.

Blindspot: Jen Liu: I Am Cloud
Blindspot Gallery is pleased to present “Jen Liu: I Am Cloud”, the artist’s debut solo exhibition at the gallery and in Asia, on view from 17 September to 2 November 2024. The exhibition will present Liu’s recent and new bodies of work, which encompass videos, paintings, and mixed-media animatronic sculptures.
“Jen Liu: I Am Cloud” moves from the final chapter of Liu’s project Pink Slime Caesar Shift (2016-2023), marked by her film The Land at the Bottom of the Sea (2023), into a new body of work including the titular video I Am Cloud (2024) which will premiere at the exhibition.
In this presentation, Liu draws upon research and non-fictional materials to create fabulated narratives that examine the virtualization of work – its realities, its speculative futures, and its historical precedents. The title evokes the Cloud, a cyber infrastructure which stores our memories and data, seemingly automated but in fact powered by an invisible soft body network of humans.
